Maple Knoll Communities, Inc. Restructures Outreach Services for Older Adults in the Community

The Sycamore Senior Center, located in Blue Ash, has served the community as a location for services and programs designed for older adults under Maple Knoll Communities, a non-profit, continuum of services provider for older adults, since 1997.

Maple Knoll Communities consistently demonstrates a high regard for upholding levels of care and serving as a benchmark for industry competitors to follow. Due to drastic cuts in state and federal reimbursements, Maple Knoll is no longer able to subsidize the services and programs offered at Sycamore Senior Center. Maple Knoll has decided to remain fiscally responsible by refocusing available resources within Maple Knoll Communities and restricting existing outbound services. However, we are committed to maintaining the integrity of the innovative programs that Sycamore offered.

The restructure within The Maple Knoll Communities corporation has led to the sale of The Sycamore Senior Center building and property located at 4455 Carver Woods Drive in Blue Ash. The property which previously made up The Sycamore Senior Center has been purchased by Al. Neyer. Al. Neyer has a long history of investing and developing in Blue Ash, including the recent acquisition of Carver Woods Executive Center and the pending acquisition and development of the Blue Ash Airport property.

Current services and programs operated from Carver Woods Drive will no longer be provided at this location effective April 1st, 2016. Maple Knoll Communities has identified an efficient and economical way to continue to provide and potentially expand crucial programs by offering two vital services based out of the Maple Knoll Village campus in Springdale.

These programs, Meals on Wheels and Transportation Services, will continue to support home bound seniors needing extra comfort and assistance under the new name of Maple Knoll Outreach Services for Seniors. Their headquarters will be located on the Maple Knoll Village campus at 11275 Springfield Pike, Cincinnati, Ohio 45246. Current Meals on Wheels and transportation clients will NOT experience a change in their services. Last year alone, The Sycamore transportation program provided services for 75 clients per month which accounted for 4,890 trips reaching over 51,097 miles.

The Meals on Wheels program serviced an average of 265 clients per month which accounted for 72,986 meals delivered throughout the year. The location change will potentially allow for additional individuals to be served by Maple Knoll Communities.

Social, recreational and educational programs previously offered at Sycamore Senior Center will now be available through senior service partners in the community such as Sharonville Recreation Center, The City of Blue Ash, Council on Aging, Springdale Recreation Center and others. Maple Knoll Communities' staff is working with these organizations to ensure the services and care that are currently being provided to those in the community will be able to be accessed at their facilities. Maple Knoll will work on the transition of these programs and services to be certain that they will be upheld to the high standards Sycamore Senior Center set as a precedent.

A Resource Guide detailing the new location of activities will be given to members and inquiring individuals in the community. A Resource Day will also be hosted at the current Sycamore Senior Center on March 16th, 2016 from 10am-12pm. During this time members can meet officials from local senior organizations to hear about services and programs they can attend.

In addition, select social programs will be offered on the Maple Knoll Village campus and Home Health Services will continue to be offered through Maple Knoll Home Health. Existing members have the opportunity to join the Hemsworth Wellness Center, on the campus of Maple Knoll Village, at a discounted rate. SilverSneakers is also available to qualifying individuals at no charge at this location.

Maple Knoll Communities, Inc. will continue to provide services and programs to over 34,500 individuals through their retirement communities Maple Knoll Village and The Knolls of Oxford, three affordable HUD Senior Living Residences, Maple Knoll Home Health Services, WMKV 89.3 & 89.9 FM Radio Station, a Montessori Child Center, the Hemsworth Wellness Center and now Maple Knoll Outreach Services for Seniors.
